Patty, thanks for making it so easy for visitors to add their comments; it doesn't get any easier than that. Hopefully, this blog will soon become the "meeting hall" where Quail Valley residents will express themselves and where they'll better be able to become a part of a cohesive community.

JUST A WORD!!!!Please! We at Crime Watch live to serve the needs of the community, and if you call with a problem, we will attempt to handle it in any way we can.BUT! Please understand, often times it is beneficial for you to call the appropriate agency yourself. There are times, important information that is required, that only the witnessing party can provide. Information such as:1. Vehicle descriptions or direction of travel.2. Suspect information, such a color of clothing, etc. .3. Exact addresses or locations known only to the witness, such as “The lot to the east”, etc. .4. A detailed description of the offense.Remember, we want everyone to feel free to call, and encourage you to do so. But attempt to evaluate the situation and decide whether or not you should call yourself. If you feel there is too much important information that may be overlooked, make the call yourself. Too often, the problem is not solved due to a lack of information. This causes everyone to be disappointed and it makes it look as though no one really attempted to solve your problem.Sir Francis Bacon said, “Knowledge is power”. The agency you call needs all the knowledge you can provide, to exercise the power they need to solve your problem!

Xerox is Doing Something Really Nice for Our Soldiers Serving in Iraq. If you go to this website: http://www.LetsSayThanks.com/ you can pick out a thank you card, and Xerox will print it and send it to a soldier who is currently serving in Iraq. You can't specifically choose who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed forces. It is FREE, and it only takes a couple minutes. Our soldiers over there need to be reminded and encouraged that we are behind them. It's a wonderful way to say thank you, so please take the time to do this right now so you don't forget. And please take the time to pass this on for others to do. We can never say enough thanks to our brave and honorable troops.

ATTENTION ALL QUAIL VALLEY RESIDENTS!!! We are at a crossroads. The Volunteer Fire Board, which oversees the purchasing of equipment for our Fire Dept. and maintains the fiduciary affairs of the Fire Dept., is in need of volunteers who can help us relieve a few members who have served for extended periods. Our Board Members, Treasurer, etc., have served for an extended period of time. Betty Hyatt, our present treasurer, has served for over 3 years. Between her exemplary work ethic, and our constant pleading, she has volunteered to stay on for an extended term. While she is the best thing to ever happen to our organization, it is time for her to take a break. We need citizens who are willing to commit to one Tuesday per month [3rd Tues] to attend a 1 hr meeting@ 6:00pm. We need board members, a cheer person, and most importantly, we need a Treasurer. How long you serve is solely up to you! If we have sufficient participation, a 1 year term is the norm. We don’t expect you to sacrifice as some have and serve for 8 years or more. 1. Treasurer – Duties include, keeping the books regarding income and expenditures. Betty has used “Quick Books” during her tenure. Her duties also include monitoring all correspondence to the Volunteer Fire Board. This includes property tax notices, corporate compliance notices, Franchise Tax Board notices, as well as any and all correspondence regarding the everyday operation of our organization. The treasurer, simply put, is responsible for the fiduciary duties of the Volunteer Fire Dept. Board.2. Cheer Person – Duties include, monitoring any and all reports regarding Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Births, Get Well cards, and sadly Death Reports of our members or their families. The Cheer Person, also reports at each meeting, what they have done in the way of sending cards, flowers, etc. .3. Board Member – Duties include, attending every meeting. Voting on issues brought to the table at each meeting. Board members simply fill out the necessary seats to for the needed “Quorum” required by the Brown Act, in voting on relevant issues related to our operation. While they “Fill a seat”, they also bring to the table their ideas as well. Their input is as important as any of the other members. YOUR INPUT IS AS VALUABLE AS ANY. As well as all the other positions, the board also participates by volunteering the 1st Sun of each month at the Pancake Breakfast. By crossroads, I mean that we need these positions filled soon. If we cannot fill these positions, we will probably cease to exist. 1. We would be forced to dissolve. 2. We could no longer supply the equipment our firefighters so badly need. 3. We could no longer put on the monthly Pancake Breakfast. Everyone who enjoys the Pancake Breakfast should be willing to participate. Everyone who has had an emergency that the Fire Dept. has responded to should participate. Everyone who does not want our organization to fail should participate.ANYONE WHO AGREES, AND WOULD LIKE TO COMMIT TO SERVING ON OUR BOARD, PLEASE CONTACT EARL McGee @ 951-244-5424, OR earl@pri-cal.com. Again! We need you! We need your ideas, your support, and most importantly your commitment. Terms begin after the first of the year, so the holidays should not be an issue. Consider serving the community, and contact me. THANK YOU,EARL McGeeSECRETARY

SPEAKING OF VOLUNTEERING!!!!!!We also need dedicated citizens who are willing to help @ the Pancake Breakfast on the 1st Sunday of each month. Duties are simple.Assist the guests in any way you can, so they may enjoy the breakfast. This may include making and serving coffee and juice. Cleaning and setting tables as they are vacated, as well as assisting in the service of the meals in any way needed. Also, emptying trash, filling napkin holders, or juice glasses, etc. . In short volunteers do everything possible to make the breakfast Clean, Safe, and Enjoyable. To ALL parents and students: This is an excellent opportunity to get those “Community Service Hours” many students desperately need for graduation. Besides it’s a lot of fun. Some of our hardest working volunteers have been the “Youth” of Quail Valley. Come show us what you’re made of. Consider volunteering your time for one Sunday a month. Your heart will thank you! It is really a rewarding experience. [As in most instances, “Many hands make light work”!] If we have an abundance of volunteers, we can rotate everyone so they may not need to serve each month. Service is voluntary however, and you may serve as often as you desire. Think about it. It is a great opportunity to, “Pay it forward”! Give a little back. Most of us serve for the same reason. We enjoy the fellowship. We love to serve. And we enjoy the compliments from the people we bless each month.Contact Leah McGee @ 951-265-9151Leah McGee

Just received this e-mail from Scott MannDear Earl & Leah, The following is in response to questions from this month's crime watch meeting and from Leah's comments at the last council meeting regarding the former Project Lift property: EDA Property (formerly Project Lift) – This is the answer to Leah's Question at the Council Meeting The lot was bought by the county for $750K just over a year ago. There are plans for a community center already at an estiimated cost of $3.2M and they are going to bid in early 2010. The project is being funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds and, therefore, it will have to be done in phases. When Project Lift went under, the county bought the parcel, cleaned it up, designed a community center and applied funding through CDBG. This is not a City project and is being managed by the County under the EDA hat. RDA Funds – This is the andwer to the question regarding "What is the status of our (Quail Valley) RDA Funds? The state’s estimated take of RDA funds from the county this year is $27.7 million and about $6 million next year. The shift for the Sun City / Quail Valley Area is estimated at $240,000 this year and $50, 000 next year. Just for info, the shift for the Romoland Area (which part lies in the city of Menifee) is estimated at $1.85 million for this year and $331K in FY 10-11. This RDA take by the state is being challenged by the League of Cities and the RD Authority at the state level. It is being challenged on it's constitutionality. There appers to be an argument that this is both unconstitutional whether a "borrow" or an outright "take" by the state without a payback mechanism. Stay tuned for now as it is out of the City of Menifee's hands to influence. However, we have voiced are objections in writing to the Governor and all our local state officials as this and other revenues were being discussed. Please share with your distribution list and if I don't see you before then, I'll see you at the December 8th Holiday Meeting. Sincerely, Scott Mann

Hey guys!!It seems no matter how warm you keep the house; the bathroom at shower time is always a little chilly. If you want to bless your “Honey’s” day, try this! The next time she jumps in the shower, get a large, fluffy, CLEAN bath towel and roll it up as small and as tight as it will go. Be careful of decorative towels that have ribbons, some types of lace and the like. [Make it small]Then put it in the microwave [Yes the microwave] for about 30 seconds. Check it to see how warm and toasty it’s getting after about 30 seconds. If it needs a little more, do it again for 15 seconds at a time, till it feels just right. My Microwave runs @ 1250 Watts and 30 sec. is just about perfect. Every microwave is different, so BE CAREFUL. IF YOU “SCORCH” ONE OF HER GOOD BATH TOWELS, THE EFFECT IS REVERSED. LOL.You can get the same results by using a dryer for about 3 min. It may not be as “Toasty” but she’ll still appreciate it.It will bless her heart, and she’ll know you appreciate her!!!!!Earl
EARL 9:05 am on December 17, 2009 | # |
Post Script:Forgot to add: After you've got her towel warm & toasty, sneak in and put it where she can get it. [Still rolled up to keep it warm]A special little note, a small rosebud, or anything you feel is appropriate to show her how special she is, will add to the effect. Maybe this time of the year; a cup of hot cocoa on her dressing table!!!Remember: Women are really JUST LIKE MEN! They appreciate being treated "Special" just like we do.[DO NOT PUT A: GUN, WRENCH, OR ANY OTHER MASCULINE ICON ON THE TOWEL. BE CREATIVE AND SPONTANEOUS!]LOL Earl

DO YOU OWN A PIT BULL (purebred or mix) that hasn't been spayed/neutered? Residents of Riverside county are eligible to have their pit bull(s) spayed/neutered for FREE, if the county decides to add one or possibly two more FREE spay/neuter clinics, specifically for pit bulls. If you are interested, call the phone number at the end of the article right away, and tell them that you're interested. Please copy & paste the following web address into your internet browser and read the article about the serious pitbull problem we have in Riverside county. One out of five dogs in Riverside county's shelters is a pit bull or pit bull mix, and only 11 percent end up getting adopted; .. unfortunately, 73 percent end up being euthanized. (I know that only adds up to a total of 84 percent, but the article doesn't say what happens to the other 16 percent). To read the article, copy the entire four lines of text between the dots, below, and paste it into your internet address bar. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •http://rcdas.org/home/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=71:animal-services-launches-pit-bull-project&catid=8:news-releases&Itemid=42• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •Please be part of the solution to this horrible situation. Don't breed your animals to sell them or give them away. For every one you allow to be produced and find a home for; .. that's one less home that will adopt from the shelter; .. that's one more precious shelter pet that will be euthanized.

I would like to know if there are others in the community who have utilized the Request Tracker system on the city of Menifee's website. I have complemented the city on this new system. It is a well layed out program and very easy to file a request with. There are numerous catergories from which to choose. if there is graffiti to report to be cleaned, or a house with weeds that are out of control, streets that need repair, street signs that are damaged or missing, again, many catergories to file a request with.I hope that those who are able will take advantage of this program It can only help improve our community.Again, I would like to know if anyone else is using this system and what your response has been. Thanks.Marc Wilson

I almost forgot to put out a big THANK YOU to Ted Metzger, another community member who quietly continues to help out here in Quail Valley any way he can. Thanks.Marc Wilson

I do use the Request Tracker System, and find it to be very useful. It seems to allow those who report problems to track the progress, and there is less pressure on the city clerks to respond or investigate.

We are going to have a Community meeting on March 3rd at Quail Valley Elementary School. Spanish portion will be at 5:00 p.m. and English will be at 7:00 p.m. We will have briefings on how to maintain the septic systems. There are a lot of new residents in Quail Valley who are not familiar with how to maintain their septic system. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the great community of Quail Valley. Hope to see you guys there!
