Good Morning Everyone,Here is a friendly reminder and one that will tremendously save some time. Now is the time to start cleaning out your yard and checking for rubbish in your drains or waterways. The rains will be here and it stinks to be out in the rain trying to clean gully’s or ravines on your property with the water is running in them. Also, I would ask you to be a responsible resident and if there is a ravine near your home please get a couple of neighbors to help you. Remember if it is near you and it backs up it will be in your yard soon. If you have any questions you may call 244-4997 and leave a message with your phone number and a brief comment. This is checked daily. They will get a hold of me that day. Also leave the best time to call you back.Thank YouLeah McGeeCrime Watch

Leah, If someone has a toy to donote and they want to drop it off before the Dec.19th toy drive, is there a designated place where it can be dropped off? Is there a suggested price range? And, lastly, should it be wrapped or unwrapped? Thank you.
fernando 10:35 am on November 27, 2009 | # |
I worked the toy drive last year. Most presents are $20.00 and up. They must not be wrapped.

You may drop off your toy or gift certificate at the Pancake Breakfast on December 6th between 8:00 am till 12:00 noon. Also while your there you can purchase a delicious breakfast and have breakfast with us. Remember all proceeds go to our Station 5 and crew. You may drop off you toy or toys at the Station on the corner of Goetz. Last year we noticed that to choose from for the older group of kids. Thanks again for your donation and time.Leah McGee-Santa Helper

This is a great insight for me as a grandma.I was picking up my grandson from a day with his cousin in Orange County during Thanksgiving break, and we were talking about Christmas songs and he said there sure isn’t many about Jesus. It seems to be all about Santa. (Now this is an 8 year old who deep in his heart doesn’t believe but will tell you he is not sure.) Which is fine because I think everyone should have a little Santa in them. Now I always try to let them know the real meaning of Christmas and I said you know the difference between Santa and Jesus. Santa comes once a year and you celebrate with gifts, songs, joy, friends and family but Jesus was born and he is in our hearts all year and he gives us joy, peace, all year and we don’t pack him away. Not much was said after that, just relished in the great insight.

Just a reminder,While you are up on your rooftop or in the yard putting up decorations, take a moment and make sure your house numbers for your address are visible for the Fire Department. If you don’t have them on your house make sure that they are large enough and located in an area that is noticeable for the Fire Department. It may save your house in case of a fire.

I sent this to the Mrnifee Post, and hope you will all aggree. We owe Marc a lot, and he should be recognized. I wish I could say I have "always"been the kind of neighbor Marc has always been to us. We Love ya Marc [and Linda Wilson]Dear Patty, Please consider Marc Wilson as “Neighbor of the Month” in next month’s edition of the Menifee Post. Marc and his lovely wife Linda came to Quail Valley from Denver Colorado about 10 years ago. When they first arrived, it was obvious they were the “perfect neighbors”. They kept their yard up nicely. They were quiet and kept to themselves. This is not to say they were standoffish, but instead seemed to be genuinely interested in everything that was going on in the community. To describe them succinctly, they are both extremely intelligent and unassuming. They are simply a joy to be around. They are also fiercely loyal friends. Marc, seeing Leah’s involvement in Crime Watch, immediately volunteered and became a board member. His involvement was extremely valuable given his level of commitment. He patrolled and assisted in the various activities Crime Watch sponsored, and generally did everything he could to lessen the burden on Leah. Probably more than anything else, it was Marc’s experience as a large business owner that contributed to his value in Crime Watch. His expertise in delegating, management, and general oversight was invaluable to us as an organization. To say he was an asset is an understatement. As Marc’s tenure on the Crime Watch board expired, he continued to help in any way he could. His hard work and commitment gave Leah more freedom to commit to other areas of Crime Watch. But what many of us do not know about Marc is, exactly what he does on a daily basis. This, I feel is where his value is showcased. He is not only an asset to Crime Watch, but to the community as a whole. Marc’s day usually begins with his customary “Lap around the community”. Now his two dogs probably think this daily excursion is all about them and their love of the car. But each day, Marc loads the dogs into the car, and literally drives most every street in Quail Valley. On this daily trip, he will pick up trash alongside the roadway, find and paint over or remove graffiti, identify code violations and report them to the city, and generally keep an eye out for any potential problem he may see. Marc will also locate potholes, and report them to the city. On occasion, however, it is not uncommon to see him out in the community with a shovel and a bucket of gravel or asphalt patch, repairing some of the less severe potholes. Now Marc does all of this, much as Crime Watch does; using his own money. He buys the trash bags to put litter in. He uses his own tools to repair the roadways and rake trash. He buys the paint he uses to cover graffiti. He does this not only because Crime Watch itself is on a very limited budget, but because as he puts it, “It’s simply the right thing to do!” He also uses his own gas to make these daily trips around the community. Most of us drive around the neighborhood and see a pothole repaired that was a “Tire eater” the day before. We see a clean roadside, where we saw a TV and 4 large bags of household trash the morning before. We see a street sign we can read when just the day before it was illegible for the graffiti. It is because Marc goes out rather early each day, we rarely see that it is he who does all these things. We just see the product of his hard work. To Marc Wilson, we at Crime Watch say, “Thank you!” Your efforts for the community are invaluable and we can never hope to repay your generosity. Your commitment is exemplary, and your work ethic is without match. We as a community owe you a debt of gratitude. Sincerely, Earl McGeeExecutive DirectorQuail Valley Crime Watch

Hi guys,Thank you for those who attended last night's community meeting. It was great to see you all there. We will be having another meeting on January 12, same time, same place. I will make up flyers for us to pass out to the community. If you want to see what I wrote on Quail Valley go to SAWPA's website, http://www.sawpa.org and click on "Latest Postings (at the bottom of the page) The city is working on an Emergency Response Plan and I'm hoping to get lots of volunteers signed up to help in the event of an emergency. The more people we have networked, the better we'll be able to respond in an emergency. Let's me know if you want to be on the Quail Valley Emergency Response team.
